Village: Constanța Ottoman name of village: Köstence Latitude: 44.1756583 Longitude: 028.6549722 Date: 1868 Description: Mosque built in 1868, destroyed in Second World War by bombardments and restored in 1956 by Direction of Historic Mosque. The mosque was built with the financial support of Sultan Abdul Aziz and initially was called the Aziziye mosque. It is the only Ottoman monument preserved in Constanța. The mosque has a rectangular shape, with minaret attached to the north-western corner. At the entrance, on the left side, on a marble slab encased in the wall is the monogram (tr. "tughra") of the Sultan Abdul Aziz. In the prayer room the mihrab is decorated with Iznik style like tiles. In a corner is a wooden minbar. The prayer room has large windows on every sides.
