Village: Hârșova Ottoman name of village: Harisova Latitude: 44.6829278 Longitude: 027.9484028 Date: 1812 Description: Mosque built around 1812, rectangular shape, with a minaret built near the building. The entry is to one vestibule which, very possible, initially was an open porch. Above the entrance into the prayer room is inscribed the votive inscription with SultanMahmud' seal (tr. tughra) framed in an oval medallion. Inside of the prayer room, in the left-hand corner is a podium dedicated for women. The wooden gallerysupported by wooden coumns, which is situated along the three sides of the mosque was an area dedicated to women too. The mihrab it is very simple, just a cylindrical niche in the wall topped off with a semispherical cap, and is white painted. The minbar, very tall, is made of wood and painted in white too. The mosque ravaged by the military campaigns of the 19th century and the burning of city in WW I. It was renovated in 1967 and again at beginning of 21st century.
