Description:
Muslim cemetery which surrounds Esmahan Sultan mosque. The funeral monuments are anonymous or engraved with the name and rank of the deceased. The oldest tomb is dating from 1585 and belongs to Mehmed Pasha, the son of the Grand Vizier. Usually the honor of being buried near the mosque, beneath pillars crowned with stone-wrought turbans was given only to perons of great military and civilian worth, to teachers, imams and servants of the house of worship.
